Knowing where to find specific characters on international language keyboard layouts can be problematic.
Fortunately, Microsoft have a little tool to help you figure out where the characters you need are on other language keyboards:

As an example, the snapshot above shows where the asterisk “*” key is on Italian keyboards – it’s the “+” key when used in combination with the “shift” key, between the accented “e” and “enter” keys.
